Alexandrite Discovered in Russia in the 19th century this variety of chrysoberyl was named after Czar Alexander. Gem quality stones are also found in Brazil in the same region as emerald mines. The distinctive color change from green to red in artificial light makes this stone highly distinctive as well as rare and extremely valuable. |
