The story began on a mountaintop in Brazil while on a
Paragliding trip, ”My mine hit” were the words that caught my
attention as emeralds spilled from the hands of my soon to be close
friend “Martin” |

|
| Pico Ibituruna in Governador Valadares is one of the
best-known flying sites in South America for paragliding and hang
gliding. This attraction brought
myself and several flying friends to this part of the state of Minas Gerais.
Otherwise known for its abundance of mineral resources. Flying was about
to launch me on a never ending adventure into the world of gemstones. |
|

|
| Precious stones have always had a lure for me.
The natural beauty created by nature and enhanced by the fine
craftsmanship of man. In the area of Minas Gerais there are mines
producing emeralds, aquamarine, topaz, garnet, and
tourmalines. With such a large supply of rough stones naturally a
faceting industry is present in the cities and small towns as well |
|

|
| By running the
gamut of mining, cutting, and importing the entire spectrum of the gem
world became apparent that this would be my future. |
